How long have you been a teacher at WRHS?

I’ve been teaching for 16 years.

Who or what inspired you to become a teacher?

My high school teachers! I’ve always been good at math and enjoyed it and if it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t be where I am today. 

What is your favorite part about teaching?

I love seeing that ‘ah ha’ moment when something finally clicks. I also love that each day is different.

Have there been any important lessons that you have learned throughout your career?

Patience is key. Every student is different and not everyone will click with your teaching style so it’s important to help them to find their path.

Are you involved in any other additional activities at the school or in the community?

I currently teach the SAT math prep course at WRHS and I’m a mentor.

What is your favorite method of teaching?

Discovery! 

What do you think is an important thing for all teachers to keep in mind?

Every student has their own life and their own worries. It’s important to be considerate of these outside factors in kids’ lives.

What do you think makes you a good teacher?

I like to build connections with my students. It allows for easier learning and seeing each other as real people. 

In what way did the pandemic affect you the most?

The pandemic really made me appreciate coming to school every day. Looking back I realize I may have taken that for granted. Also, adjusting to new technology and applications was not easy and I learned a lot with that! It was hard staying positive during the pandemic, but now I’m just grateful to be here with real people.
