Rebekka White

Rebekka+White
Evelyn Ryan

Rebekka White is a recent graduate from Worcester State University and has started teaching at WRHS this year. The WRHS community is glad to have her hopes that she’ll stay for many more years. Ms. White was interviewed and asked ten questions.

How would you describe yourself?
I would say I’m a very organized person but I’m quiet and laid back

What topics do you teach?
Just Freshman Seminar. I teach twelve classes of Freshman Seminar.

Did you have seminar when you were in high school?
No, I had it in college and I really liked it. I think it’s a useful class to have in high school.

What is the best part of teaching?
I like meeting new students and helping them with their first year of high school.

What is the worst part of teaching?
Grading. I have two-hundred thirty students and when I give them all the same assignment, it gets tiring pretty quick.

What is a fun aspect of teaching?
I would say that having so many seminar classes is fun. Since all the classes are different, it is pretty interesting. Freshmen have a lot of energy!

Do you have any hobbies or things you enjoy doing outside of school?
I like photography and I like traveling. I like going somewhere new every year. I went to the Bahamas this year. I’ve been to New York and to Maine a couple times. I like exploring and getting out of Massachusetts.

What is a piece of advice you would give to students?
I would say to participate in school as much as you can. In clubs and in your grade. You get out what you put into your high school experience.

How have you enjoyed teaching so far?
I like it a lot. I think that the kids make it a lot more interesting, especially as a first year teacher.

What makes you an amazing teacher?
I think that I’m able to relate to the students more than other teachers since I’m a fresh college graduate. I think I have a different outlook on school which is especially good in Freshman Seminar so I can help the students and guide them through high school
