Social Studies teacher, Mrs. Victoria Anderson-Colonna

How long have you been a teacher at WRHS?

Nine years at WRHS, teaching for 20.

Who or what inspired you to become a teacher?

My love of learning, reading, questioning and thinking! I always enjoyed school and enjoyed working with other people.

What is your favorite part about teaching?

The Students!

Have there been any important lessons that you have learned throughout your career?

Yes, it’s not necessarily all about the subject matter. Teaching students how to learn for themselves, teaching students skills that they can use for their own lives outside of my classroom is very significant to me.

Are you involved in any other additional activities at the school or in the community?

Yes, with the Food Bank of Massachusetts.

What is your favorite method of teaching?

Student collaboration and learning cooperatively or in groups.

What do you think is an important thing for all teachers to keep in mind?

Students have lives and commitments outside of our classrooms and so do teachers.

What do you think makes you a good teacher?

I try my best to be reasonable while also having high expectations for my students’ learning and behavior.

In what way did the pandemic affect you the most?

The pandemic has helped me to reflect on what is most important in our lives, and then how to weave in our learning and education into just that, and not vice versa.
